(The REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL January/February 2003)

2003 - REAL ESTATE ORGANIZATION HONORS CO-FOUNDERS OF RE/MAX INTERNATIONAL

The Council of Residential Specialists 2003 President Bill Sloan, CRS, announced that Dave and Gail Liniger, the co-founders of RE/MAX International, received the Special Achievement Award at the national real estate organization's Inaugural Dinner, Nov. 8, held during the National Association of Realtors® Conference in San Francisco. The Special Recognition Award honored the Linigers for their lifetime commitment to the Council of Residential Specialists.

"Dave and Gail initiated the paradigm shift in the business philosophy that sales agents could receive 100 percent of their commission fees from the sale of homes," Sloan says. "That was a major change in thinking for the profession, in which traditionally agents and brokers split the commission fees. Dave and Gail have also encouraged RE/MAX agents to take CRS Courses and earn the CRS designation. With their strong support of the Council, 20 percent of our entire membership works in RE/MAX offices throughout the world. That is by far the highest number and percentage of agents from any single franchise organization among our 40,000 international members."

Dave Liniger is an internationally recognized speaker and has appeared in print, television and radio throughout the world. Gail Liniger was honored as one of the top 10 U.S. women for her outstanding achievements in business, the arts and public service. Her recovery from a near-fatal crash of a small private plane in 1983 has served to inspire people everywhere.

2004 - RE/MAX REACHES 100,000 ASSOCIATES

A milestone for RE/MAX International has been achieved - 100,066 sales associates now claim RE/MAX as their real estate career home.

"The year end goal for 2004 was to reach the 100,000 mark," said Daryl Jesperson, chief executive officer of RE/MAX International. "Of course, it is exhilarating to reach that objective early. Such phenomenal growth is a demonstration of the dedication and commitment from the dynamic leadership of region owners, regional directors and of course, the individual broker/owners and mangers throughout the network."

77,184 of the associates are in the United States, while 13,994 are in Canada. The third largest RE/MAX population is in Europe with 5,627 followed by South Africa at 1,533, Australia with 749 and New Zealand at 419. 100,000 agents means RE/MAX has grown over 14.5 percent already in 2004 - almost 2.5 percent more than in 2003. Jesperson now predicts nearly 15 percent net gain in agent growth for 2004, and again in 2005.

In addition to these 100,066 independent real estate associates, RE/MAX offices around the world employ approximately 30,000 support staff. "The wonderful part of all this is the multitude of friendships that are developed in the RE/MAX family. Everyday, we observe camaraderie and mutual respect among agents around the world with a wide array of ethnic backgrounds, languages and personal interests. The real estate industry is like no other, and we are proud to be associated with every single RE/MAX affiliate."
